Victor Brauner is one of my favourite artists, also romanian. His playfulness and originality was at the heart of the Dada movement and then surrealism. In roughly 900 images and 500 pages, in different sections (which you can see from outside on the book edges), the book presents the majority of his drawings and paintings, and then puts them on a timeline together with important info.
The cover portrays the manifesto work of 75HP, pressed into a very tactile paper, with a rectangle with rounded corners that subtly echoes an engraving process. After that, the book opens in a dynamic layout, with colours and playful tones. The spine solution allows the thick book to be opened flat for a nice feel and reading experience. At slide 11 here you can see what i find as one of the greatest artworks that moved me — Tire a l'arc (1962).
